Delightful December!

I love this place!
Run, run, as fast as you can!
Check out Shorecrest's JK land!!!
At Shorecrest we have so much fun.
Whether in the classroom or out under the sun.
The learning is endless with exploration and discovery
Happy children below, beside and above me.
Singing, dancing, counting, patterning
Hands-on activities for learning everything.
Gardening, story-telling, alphabet sounds
Children growing by leaps and bounds.
Making friends and learning how to keep them
Filling up "buckets" to help them to reap them
Each day is new and fresh and bold
Where the memories are more precious than silver or gold.
Shorecrest is the place but the people are the heart
So visit Shorecrest's ECC for the very best start!

The Gingerbread Man!

Well, run we did!  Last week the children loved hearing several versions of the popular Gingerbread Man story.  The week began with Jack Hartmann's "Gingerbread Man" song and a lot of spirited dramatic play and dancing! In the middle there were delicious discoveries made with gingerbread play dough, cookie cutters, beads and more during play.  The week ended with the children fashioning and baking their very own gingerbread boys and girls.  Seems we just weren't careful enough when peeking to check on them though, because they up and ran away!!! We took a rousing run around campus, following clues found by members of our fabulous faculty and even some family members to our students as well. Wouldn't you know that those little "gingies" wanted to enroll in Shorecrest too!  Mr. Murphy explained to them, however, that they were not meant to be students but were better suited to be their tasty snack.  Feeling quite worn out after their rigorous run, the gingerbread boys and girls decided to return to our classroom where we soon found them lounging around the gingerbread house we had made for them the day before! So sneaky!  SOOOO DELICIOUS!!!

First, those little rascals ran all the way to Upper Division land to visit with Mr. Dillow, Tadhg's daddy.

Then, they ran all the way across campus to the Lower Division Land and were found in Ms. O'Mulane's 2nd grade classroom.

Next, it was for learning and reading with Mrs. Smay in the Library.

They loved reading so much they took off like a rocket to enroll in school with Mr. Murphy!  Who sent them directly back to our classroom to be a very tasty mid-morning snack! Yum!

Gingerbread men lounging after a very rigorous morning!

What a tasty morning!!!
Here's what the children heard....
(OVEN)
Ha ha and he he! You peeked and out we ran
Now we’re off to Upper Division Land!
We know a guy who is so cool
He is the head of that upper school.
We’re going to see him so don’t delay
If you aren’t quick we’ll slip away!

(Mr. Dillow)
Run, run, as fast as you can
We went down to Lower Division Land!
1+1 will give you a clue
We went to visit a teacher who’s a mommy too!

(Ms. O'Mulane)
Ha ha…you missed once more!
We saw you coming and hit the door!
We’re looking to read and get real smart
So that’s a hint for where to start.
You can check us out where you check out books
So run real fast and have a look!

(Mrs. Smay)
We loved reading and learning
and want to know more
We’re going to enroll in school
for sure
Better head to that place
But I bet we’re faster
We need a meeting with your Head Master

(Mr. Murphy)
The Headmaster said we may not enroll
Being snack for you kids is a Gingerbread goal
So we ran back to rest
after this long exhausting day
We’ll be in the home you made for us in JK!
